Sarah Williamson is a Senior Lecturer in the University’s School of Education and Professional Development and the woman behind Art Activist Barbie. She’s gained a global following for Art Activist Barbie’s campaign, which she describes as “radical ventriloquism”. She photographs Barbie in art galleries with tiny placards drawing attention to big issues like gender imbalance, male gaze and objectification and posts the results on social media.

Melissa Strauss is a co-founder of Museum Space Invaders. She’s interested in cultural policy, public engagement, and social justice. She is interim Head of Museums, Libraries and Archives at the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Melissa is a Clore Fellow for 2019-20, and is completing an AHRC supported research project on participation in museum decision-making. She also sits on a steering group to help develop the East End Women’s Museum in London.
